Apostate

  1. An individual who was once a member but now rejects large portions of LDS doctrine.

Unlike an ex-Mormon, who has simply left the Church, an apostate is understood to have turned against its core teachings. The label is usually applied by others rather than claimed, and it carries a strongly negative connotation.
