About Mormon Jargon

Mormon Jargon is a plain-language dictionary of the religious and cultural vocabulary used by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It currently defines 113 terms — from doctrinal words like priesthood to insider slang like BMW and funeral potatoes.

The goal is simple: help investigators, new members, curious neighbors, and anyone else make sense of the language they hear at church, in conversation, or online.

Mormon Jargon is not officially connected with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. All definitions are provided for informational purposes.
