Conversion

  1. The deep, lasting change of heart by which a person turns to Jesus Christ and lives the gospel — more than just joining the Church.

Latter-day Saints distinguish being baptized from being truly converted: conversion is an ongoing spiritual process of coming unto Christ, changing one's nature, and staying faithful. It applies to lifelong members as much as to new converts.
