Temple & Ordinances

Initiatory

  1. A preparatory temple ordinance of symbolic washing and anointing, received before the endowment, in which a person is promised blessings and clothed in the temple garment for the first time.

Once called the washing and anointing, the initiatory is performed by temple workers of the same sex and marks a person's first receiving of the garment. Members do it first for themselves and later by proxy for the dead.
