Recorder

  1. A temple worker who reads the names of the deceased and records each ordinance as it is performed, so that none is missed or duplicated.

At the font and in other ordinance rooms, the recorder announces the name the proxy is standing in for and logs the completed ordinance into the Church's records. The same title is also used more broadly for the clerk who keeps membership and ordinance records for a ward or stake.
