Soaking

  1. A rumored loophole for having sex without technically "breaking" the law of chastity — the idea being that if a couple stays completely still, it somehow doesn't count.

Soaking is far more famous as a joke and urban legend than as anything actually practiced. It circulates widely as a punchline about the lengths people supposedly go to in order to obey the letter of a rule while dodging its spirit, and it's often paired with an equally apocryphal helper role (a friend jumping on the bed to get around the "no movement" technicality). Church teaching draws no such distinction — the law of chastity covers it — so the term lives mostly in the realm of campus folklore and self-deprecating humor.
