NCMO
- Short for "Non-Committal Make-Out" — kissing or making out with someone with no intention of dating them or starting a relationship.
Pronounced "NICK-mo," the term is a staple of single LDS young-adult culture, especially around BYU. Because Church standards steer members away from casual physical relationships, an NCMO occupies a gray area that gets talked about (and joked about) constantly — it stops short of anything beyond kissing but skips the commitment that dating is supposed to imply. Whether it's harmless fun or something to feel guilty about is a matter of ongoing debate among the young single adults who use the word.
“It was just an NCMO, nothing serious.”
