Alma
- The name of two important Book of Mormon prophets — Alma the Elder, who founded a community of believers, and his son Alma the Younger, a great missionary and record-keeper.
Alma the Elder was a priest of wicked King Noah who repented after hearing the prophet Abinadi, then baptized converts at the Waters of Mormon. His son, Alma the Younger, was struck down by an angel while fighting the Church, dramatically converted, and became the first chief judge and a powerful missionary; the Book of Alma bears his name.
