Lift Where You Stand
- An exhortation to serve faithfully in your present calling and circumstances rather than seeking recognition or a different position.
The phrase comes from President Dieter F. Uchtdorf's October 2008 general conference talk "Lift Where You Stand," which drew on the image of several men trying to move a heavy stove: they succeeded only when each one lifted in his own place instead of reaching past his neighbor. Members use it as a reminder that every calling matters and that quiet, faithful effort where you are is more valuable than angling for a more visible role.
