Pinkwashing
- When a companionship of sister missionaries takes over an area that elders had been serving, so the whole missionary presence there changes over in a single transfer.
A pinkwashing is a whitewash with a second change layered on top: not only is nobody left who knows the area, the kind of missionary working it changes too. Leadership may pinkwash an area for any number of ordinary reasons — a shift in where sisters are most needed, a change in how many missionaries the mission has, or simply how the transfer board fell that round. Some missions use the word more loosely, for any whitewash where the incoming pair are sisters.
Unrelated to the general-English word "pinkwashing", which is used in public-relations criticism and has nothing to do with missionary work.
