Restoration
- The bringing back of Jesus Christ's original church, priesthood authority, and gospel to the earth through Joseph Smith, after centuries of apostasy.
The Restoration is the founding claim of the Church: that following the Great Apostasy, God and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith in the First Vision, the Book of Mormon came forth, and priesthood authority was restored by heavenly messengers. Latter-day Saints see it as ongoing rather than finished.
