Joseph Smith Jr.

  1. The first Prophet of the LDS church.

Born in 1805, Joseph Smith Jr. organized the Church in 1830 and, according to Latter-day Saint belief, translated the Book of Mormon and received the revelations that make up much of its scripture. He was killed by a mob in Carthage, Illinois in 1844.
