Satan
- The devil — a spirit son of God who rebelled in the premortal Council in Heaven and now seeks to make everyone miserable and to oppose God's plan.
Known as Lucifer before his fall and often called "the adversary," Satan and the spirits who followed him were cast out in the War in Heaven and never received bodies. Latter-day Saints believe he tempts people but cannot force them, since agency is protected.
