Beliefs & Doctrine

Liahona

  1. A brass ball or compass that God gave Lehi's family in the Book of Mormon to guide their journey, which worked according to their faith and obedience.

The Liahona pointed the way and displayed written messages, but stopped functioning when the family was contentious. It is a favorite symbol of following personal revelation — and the namesake of the Church's international magazine.
