Iron Rod

  1. In Lehi's dream (Book of Mormon), the iron rod represents the word of God — a railing that leads safely along a strait and narrow path to the tree of life.

Holding to the iron rod is a well-known symbol for clinging to scripture and revelation amid the "mists of darkness" of temptation and confusion. See also the phrase Hold to the Rod.
