Beliefs & Doctrine

Lehi

  1. A prophet in Jerusalem who, warned by God around 600 BC, led his family into the wilderness — the founding patriarch of the Book of Mormon peoples.

Lehi's family journeyed to the Americas; his sons Nephi and Laman became the ancestors of the Nephites and Lamanites. His famous dream of the tree of life (with the iron rod and the great and spacious building) opens the Book of Mormon.
