Melchizedek

  1. A great Old Testament high priest and king of Salem, after whom the higher priesthood is named.

So revered that the higher priesthood was named for him — to avoid the too-frequent repetition of God's name — Melchizedek is held up as a model of righteousness, and Abraham paid tithes to him.
