Melchizedek Priesthood

  1. The higher priesthood, which holds the authority to lead the Church and administer its spiritual ordinances; its offices include Elder, High Priest, Seventy, and Apostle.

Named after Melchizedek, a great high priest in the Old Testament, it is conferred on worthy adult men (usually at 18 years old). Ordinances such as confirmation, blessings of healing, and temple ordinances are performed under its authority.
