Temple & Ordinances

Ordination

  1. The act of conferring a priesthood office on a man or boy by the laying on of hands by those in authority.

Distinct from being set apart to a calling, ordination bestows a priesthood office (such as Deacon, Elder, or High Priest). A young man is typically ordained to successive Aaronic Priesthood offices through his teenage years.
