Aaronic Priesthood

  1. The lesser or preparatory priesthood, whose offices are Deacon, Teacher, Priest, and Bishop; typically conferred on worthy young men beginning at 12 years old.

Named after Aaron of the Old Testament, the Aaronic Priesthood administers the outward ordinances of the gospel — most visibly the sacrament and baptism — and prepares its holders for the higher Melchizedek Priesthood.
