Laman and Lemuel

  1. The two rebellious eldest sons of Lehi and older brothers of Nephi.

Through First and Second Nephi they murmur against their father Lehi and their younger brother Nephi, at times binding him or seeking his life; their descendants became the Lamanites. In Latter-day Saint culture their names are shorthand for complaining or resisting spiritual counsel.
