Beliefs & Doctrine

The Fall

  1. Adam and Eve's transgression in the Garden of Eden, which brought mortality, sin, and death into the world.

Unlike some Christian traditions, Latter-day Saints view the Fall as a necessary step forward in God's plan rather than a tragedy — it made mortal life, agency, and family possible, and created the need for the Atonement. "Adam fell that men might be."
