Meetinghouse

  1. A sacred building in which members go to church and meet for various activities.

Though meetinghouse is the appropriate label for this type of building, followers of most other Christian religions would simply refer to them as a church (and many Mormons do as well). Several wards often share one meetinghouse and as such a great deal of planning goes into every activity that is held there. Meetinghouses are sacred because they are a house of the Lord and as such need to be treated with a great deal of respect.
