Temple Recommend

  1. A piece of paper that allows a faithful member of the Church to enter a Temple.

A Temple Recommend is obtained after being interviewed by the appropriate leadership and is valid for two years after the interview date. Adults hold a full recommend good for all temple ordinances, while youth (beginning the year they turn 12) and newer members hold a limited-use recommend for proxy baptisms and confirmations. This piece of paper lets the workers at any of the Temples know that that specific member was recently found to be worthy to enter the Temple and acts as a safeguard to protect the sacred nature of the Temples themselves.
